We met on a busy hospital ward in Birmingham. Our first conversation ended with an offer of Indian food. One of us meant it as a thank-you for helping out during a shift. The other thought it was a date—and had already bragged to his colleagues. We’ll let you guess who was who.

When we did go on our first date, there was an ambitious attempt to impress with some knowledge of Indian food. The food wasn’t particularly memorable, but his effort was appreciated. Paying the bill also provided a convenient excuse to suggest a second date.

It was during that second meeting that something changed. We talked openly, felt understood and wanted to keep getting to know each other. Before long, we had become each other’s closest friend—although Mansi discovered she had some competition from Mike.

Even living on opposite sides of the world couldn’t change what we wanted: a life together. During one much-awaited reunion, we got engaged.

Bringing our families and cultures together took time. Their love and support mean so much to us, and seeing our families embrace each other has been one of the happiest parts of our story.

A special thank-you goes to Mansi’s brother, Manav, for his unwavering love and support, and for working so hard to bring our wedding together alongside his already demanding work commitments.

For us, this wedding celebrates love reaching beyond cultural boundaries, while honouring where we both come from. Each of you has helped bring us here, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you.

हमारी कहानी

हमारी मुलाकात बर्मिंघम के एक व्यस्त अस्पताल के वार्ड में हुई। हमारी पहली बातचीत भारतीय खाने के निमंत्रण पर खत्म हुई। हममें से एक ने काम में मदद करने के लिए शुक्रिया कहते हुए खाने पर बुलाया था। दूसरे ने समझ लिया कि उसे डेट पर बुलाया गया है—और अपने साथियों के सामने शेखी भी बघार दी। अब कौन क्या समझा था, यह आप खुद ही अंदाज़ा लगा लीजिए।

जब हम सचमुच अपनी पहली डेट पर गए, तो भारतीय खाने की जानकारी से प्रभावित करने की पूरी कोशिश हुई। खाना तो कुछ खास यादगार नहीं था, लेकिन उनकी कोशिश अच्छी लगी। खाने का बिल चुकाने से दोबारा मिलने का एक अच्छा बहाना भी मिल गया।

दूसरी मुलाकात में कुछ बदल गया। हमने खुलकर बातें कीं, एक-दूसरे को समझा और महसूस किया कि हम एक-दूसरे को और जानना चाहते हैं। देखते ही देखते हम एक-दूसरे के सबसे करीबी दोस्त बन गए—हालाँकि मानसी को जल्द ही पता चल गया कि इस मामले में माइक से थोड़ी टक्कर मिल सकती है।

दुनिया के दो अलग-अलग कोनों में रहने के बावजूद हमारी चाहत वही रही—ज़िंदगी साथ बिताने की। लंबे इंतज़ार के बाद हुई एक मुलाकात में हमने शादी का फैसला कर लिया और सगाई कर ली।

हमारे परिवारों और संस्कृतियों को करीब आने में थोड़ा समय लगा। उनका प्यार और साथ हमारे लिए बहुत मायने रखता है। अपने परिवारों को एक-दूसरे को अपनाते देखना हमारी कहानी के सबसे खूबसूरत पलों में से एक रहा है।

मानसी के भाई मानव का हम दिल से शुक्रिया अदा करना चाहते हैं। उनका अटूट प्यार और साथ हमेशा हमारे साथ रहा है। अपने काम की इतनी सारी ज़िम्मेदारियों के बावजूद, हमारी शादी को साकार करने के लिए उन्होंने जो मेहनत, समय और लगन दी है, उसके लिए हम दोनों बेहद आभारी हैं।

हमारे लिए यह शादी उस प्यार का जश्न है जो सांस्कृतिक सीमाओं से आगे बढ़ता है और साथ ही हम दोनों की जड़ों और परंपराओं का सम्मान करता है। आप सभी का हमारी ज़िंदगी में और हमें इस मुकाम तक पहुँचाने में अपना-अपना योगदान रहा है। अब हम आपके साथ मिलकर इस खुशी को मनाने का बेसब्री से इंतज़ार कर रहे हैं।
